Pikmin V/Weather System
This article or section contains info from the non-canon game Pikmin V, created by En Passant.
In Pikmin V, weather is introduced as an environmental factor. Each area is given a climate which has a list of possible weathers that can occur. At the beginning of each day, a weather is chosen with weighted randomness, and after each quarter of the day, another check is made to see if the weather changes. Very few weathers affect gameplay, and those that do are both rarer and never completely block access to any part of an area. There is an option in the Settings menu to disable game-affecting weathers, should a player want to avoid the random element. This page details the climates and weathers that can occur.
Sunny/Cloudy and Overcast appear in all areas that have weather, so they are not listed.
|Temperate||Massive Plain region*||Windy, Rain, Rain Storm, Fog|
|Arid||Gravel Desert, Rusted Ravine||Windy, Intense sun|
|Tropical||Verdant Forest region||Rain, Rain Storm, Fog|
|Tundra||Polar Mountain region||Windy, Snow, Snow Storm, Hail, Fog|
*The weather is locked to Sunny/Cloudy on Day 1.
|Spoiler: Endgame information|
|After rescuing Louie and getting the Drake's hydraulics system, the ships are crashed into the Massive Plain, which has been affected by a radioactive storm and has no weather. This is reflected in the game's files as a climate change.|
|Sunny/Cloudy||Normal weather. Cloudy has clouds occasionally shade the area. The two conditions have an equal chance of occurring whenever this weather is selected.||High||Overcast|
|Overcast||The area is shaded.||High||Sunny/Cloud|
|Windy||Occasionally spawns gusts of wind that can knock over non-Orange Pikmin. All gusts follow a certain direction that changes with each segment of the sun meter. Airborne enemies are either grounded or leave the area.||Medium||Sunny/Cloudy|
|Rain||Light showers cover the area. Puddles made from a Rain Storm will not dissipate, but they will not grow either.||Medium||Overcast|
|Rain Storm||A torrential downpour raises water levels and creates puddles.||Low||Rain|
|Snow||Snow falls. Snow mounds made from a Snow Storm will not dissipate, but they will not grow either.||Medium||Overcast|
|Snow Storm||Snow blows around and gathers into snow mounds.||Low||Snow|
|Fog||Cloud cover decreases visibility.||Low||Overcast|
|Intense sun||Those who are directly exposed will quickly fatigue and move slower. Heat mirages dance around the edge of the screen if the active captain is exposed. Only occurs during the middle half of the day.||Low||Sun|
|Hail||Ice falls from the sky, hitting random places. This can hurt enemies and crush Pikmin. Because of this, it always changes to another weather.||Very low||Snow|
